Using this Puzzle for Learning

This word search can be a fun introduction to college and career readiness. As students find the names of well-known U.S. colleges and universities, encourage them to learn a little more about the schools on the list.

Try extending the activity by having students choose one or more schools and find out where they are located, whether they are public or private, what subjects or programs they are known for, and approximately how many students attend. Students could also locate the schools on a U.S. map or compare two colleges that interest them.

For a quick class discussion, ask students which schools they had heard of before completing the puzzle and which names were new to them.
